“Research evidence shows that education and health are closely linked. So, promoting the health and wellbeing of pupils and students within schools and colleges has the potential to improve their educational outcomes and their health and wellbeing outcomes.” (Public Health England 2014)
In short, “Pupils with better health and wellbeing are likely to achieve better academically.” (Public Health England 2014)
At Westvale, we are committed to promoting the good health and well-being of our children in order that they attend school regularly and are fit and ready to learn. As well as a safeguarding curriculum to keep our children safe, we are also committed to the development of each child’s physical and mental health.
Healthy living is delivered through subjects such as science, DT, PE and PSHE. We also work with the School’s Health Team, to promote dental health and good hygiene.
Our school nurse provides half termly ‘drop in’ sessions for parents to support health concerns. If you would like further information please contact the school office.
