Parent/Carer Message
Dear Parents and Carers,
We are aware that messages are currently circulating on WhatsApp and other social media groups regarding potential safety concerns affecting schools.
We understand that when worrying information appears, it is natural for parents to want to share it quickly, in order to protect others.
However, we would like to remind everyone of the importance of not sharing unconfirmed information. When messages are passed on without verification, they unintentionally cause unnecessary alarm and confusion within our school community. Information shared in private messaging groups is often incomplete or inaccurate, and once circulated widely it can be difficult to correct.
Police enquiries are ongoing and they have confirmed there is no intelligence to suggest a credible threat to schools.
The safety and wellbeing of our pupils and staff remains our highest priority and we continue to follow all appropriate safeguarding and security procedures and remain in close communication with relevant authorities.
We kindly ask parents and carers to refrain from sharing or forwarding unverified messages in WhatsApp groups or on social media.
If you receive information that concerns you, please check for updates from official sources such as school directly or the Police.
If you have any information, you can call 101 or DM @MerpolCC on social media. You can also call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
Thank you for your cooperation and for helping us maintain a calm and supportive environment for our children.
