Reception ‘Meet and Greet’ sessions – September 2021
Thank you to all those Parents/Carers who were able to attend the meetings. We hope they were useful for you. At Westvale, we recognise the important role you play in educating your children in partnership with School. Knowing what the children are expected to learn and be able to do during Reception year is an important part of that process.
It’s been lovely getting to know the children (and yourselves!) over the past few weeks, and we thank you for the help you’ve given in starting your child’s Reception journey.

Nursery have enjoyed their first few weeks back
Nursery have enjoyed their first few weeks back. They have explored all of our provision and have become familiar with our rules and routines. Well done nursery!

Nursery MacMillan coffee morning
Nursery have made cakes for MacMillan coffee morning and sold the cakes in our shop. Our maths mastery focus is number 1 so the children used real pennies to buy a cake.
The Shang Dynasty
Year 5 have been creating their own ‘oracle bones’. They added some ancient inscriptions from the Shang royalty and nobles, who used to write questions about the future to their ancestors!
Year 5 Class Artist
Our class artist, Salvador Dali was a Surrealist artist, who used dreams as a basis for many of his paintings. The children created some of their own paintings in the style of Salvador Dali.
In English, we have been reading ‘The Journey’ by Francesca Sanna
In English, we have been reading ‘The Journey’ by Francesca Sanna. The children have enjoyed writing and performing their own poems about what they’d take with them if they had to move to another country.
Outdoor Timeline
The children have loved engaging in a Timeline Quiz finding out lots of information from our new outdoor timeline.
