Class 5M - Year 5
Class 5M - Year 5
Welcome back Year 5!
We hope you all enjoyed your Easter break.
This half-term we will be studying The Paper Bag Prince by Colin Thomson. They will write a persuasive letter to the council about the rubbish dump. They will also write a persuasive leaflet. As part of our guiding reading sessions, we’ll study a non- fiction text Pollution-they will look at the organisation and structure. Our focus for maths is geometry including properties of shapes and calculating and measuring angles. Our topic for science is separating mixtures. They will have the chance to explore Victorian Liverpool in history. In RE we will look at Hindu beliefs and how they are respected and worshipped. They will study self portraits in art and they use the iPads to create binary messages in our computing unit. In addition, they will continue to learn Spanish and engage in weekly sessions with our music specialist. PE will be on Fridays, they will need a full PE kit on this day.
Children should bring in a water bottle each day. Please encourage your child to read at home each night and sign their reading record. Homework will be set each Friday and should be returned the following week, they should also continue to practise their times tables. Punctuality is crucial and it is essential that they arrive at school on time to ensure that it does not have a negative impact on their learning.
If you have any worries or concerns, then please do not hesitate to contact the school
As always, thank you for your continued support.
Mrs C Munro and Mrs L Stewart
