Welcome to 1G

Happy New Year, we hope all our wonderful families had a lovely, restful half-term Christmas break and that the children are ready to get stuck back into their learning. The children performed incredibly in their nativity, they sang their hearts out, showed the best moves and told the story fantastically. We were so proud and I know you were, thank you for coming and supporting the children. The children are growing up so much already, they’ve settled into Year 1 beautifully. We’re so proud of the progress they are making already!

We are looking forward to a busy half term with lots of fun to be had. We have lots of exciting learning ahead this year! We will continue focusing on letter formation, as it is vital for children to start letters in the correct place, write them to the right size, and keep them neatly on the line.

This half term is going to be a busy one, with lots of wonderful activities and events taking place across school. It’s important that children are in every day, so they don’t miss out on all the fun and learning opportunities!

We will continue teaching phonics through Read. Write. Inc. every morning. Books are changed every Monday, so please ensure book bags are in school every day, as we aim to read with your child on multiple occasions throughout the week. Children are expected to read a minimum of four times per week at home. It is essential that your child reads the same book multiple times, which has clear benefits for developing their reading skills.

Children can have fruit (or another healthy snack) – NO NUTS – for morning break. All children must have a water bottle, which should be taken home daily for washing.

All uniforms, including PE kits, must be clearly labelled. Children are to bring their PE kit with pumps into school in their PE bag and will get changed in school on their PE day, which is Thursday.

9 am – “Hurry in, let the phonics begin”

We want your children in school every day, enjoying learning and exploring new ideas, and growing alongside their friends. Regular attendance helps them reach their full potential and makes every day a positive, fun experience.

We are so excited to continue getting to know the children and learning together. If you have any questions, please always ask, we are happy to help.

We will start to send home some homework, it may be maths, phonics or writing related. We would appreciate you having a go with your children. They are always eager to do more in class and have been asking for work to take home, homework will be sent home on a Monday and needs to be returned before the following Monday. Children will also be receiving spellings; they are to be practiced at home.

Here’s to another wonderful half term!
