Year 6

Mrs J Bailey Y6 Class Teacher
Mrs J Donoghue Teaching Assistant

Welcome to Year 6!!

It’s great to be back and we are all looking forward to what will hopefully be a ‘normal’ year!  It is a new year group for me and for the children.

It was so lovely to welcome the children back after summer and see them all looking so smart and grown up.

There are so many great things to look forward to in Year 6!  We have many great books and topics to study, I can’t wait to get started.

Our first topic is World War Two, which I know the children are so excited about.  Our first class book is ‘Friend or Foe; by Michael Morpurgo, which is a story about two young evacuees.  This book will give the children so many writing opportunities.

In maths we will be using Power Maths to develop our skills further starting with the place value of numbers up to 10,000,000!

In Science we will be studying Evolution and Adaption and changes over time.

Throughout the year we will be looking at the work of our class artist, Vincent Van Gough, aswell as studying the works of other influential artists.

PE will be on Tuesdays for the next four weeks (starting wk beg 13th September) and will be at Kirkby High.

We will be giving out homework again every Friday to be in before the following Wednesday, aswell as weekly spellings and daily reading and times table practice.

I am really looking forward to the year ahead with all of your lovely children.  If you have any questions or concerns please don’t hesitate to contact the school.

Thank you, as always, for all of your support,

Mrs Bailey
